German office furniture company Assmann is now the sole owner of UK-based Frem Group Screens.
Assmann took a 24% stake in Frem in 2018, acquiring a further 50% two years later. Now, it has taken that to 100%, rebranding the UK firm to Spacemann at the same time. The newly renamed business will operate as an independent development and production facility with a clear differentiation from the Assmann Office Furniture sales subsidiary. All of the approximately 40 employees have kept their jobs, it was confirmed.
Spacemann – which, as Frem, had sales of £4.1 million in 2022 – will be headed by Assmann’s Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Große-Frintrop. Its board of directors also includes the German owner’s Managing Partner Dirk Assmann and Head of Industrial Engineering Andreas Fipp as well as former Frem executives Pat O’Sullivan and Phil Dingley.
“Not only does the Spacemann takeover give us our own development and production company for room-in-room systems, acoustic walls and soft seating furniture, it will also expand our vertical integration. Besides that, we will have full access to the supply chain, which will help us ensure punctual deliveries and availability,” said Große-Frintrop.
Spacemann will service the entire Assmann group with its product portfolio, with plans to strengthen its market position in the acoustic walls segment.
