Leading independent reseller Commercial has been named as one of The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work 2026.
The Cheltenham-based business was included in the ‘Big Companies’ category of the annual rankings, which recognise organisations with between 250-1,999 employees. Commercial also received the Industry Award for the Business and Management Services sector.
According to the company, the recognition was based on an independent employee survey covering areas such as wellbeing, empowerment and job satisfaction. Commercial said it achieved ‘excellent’ scores across all six categories, with 80% of employees taking part in the survey.
Co-founder and Managing Director Simone Hindmarch said the listing reflected the company culture Commercial has sought to build over more than 30 years.
“This means a huge amount to us because it’s based on what our people think and feel about working at Commercial,” she commented.
She continued: “Creating a great place to work takes consistency and sustained effort. It means listening properly, acting on feedback and continually layering up the support we provide as the world of work changes.”
Hindmarch added that workplace culture was closely linked to the company’s ability to grow and innovate.
“For us, building social capital is just as important as building financial strength. Many of our people want purpose, career progression and a sense of belonging. By working hard to provide that, we strengthen the whole organisation,” she said.
Commercial employs nearly 300 people and generates annual revenue of approximately £98 million. The company said it is targeting sustainable growth over the next decade.
Recent investments have included the refurbishment of its Cheltenham headquarters, with features designed to support neurodiverse employees and different working preferences. The site now includes a multi-faith room, dedicated areas for colleagues with children or dogs and biophilic design elements.
