In a recent regulatory filing in the US, Amazon revealed its 2024 sales figure for the UK.
In the 12 months to 31 December 2024, Amazon UK’s revenue was $37.85 billion (£30 billion). That was a year-on-year increase of almost 13% on 2023’s figure of $33.6 billion.
Amazon reports in US dollars, so a couple of percentage points can be taken off due to the weakening of sterling versus the dollar last year. Also baked into the numbers are: the AWS business which, globally, grew by 19% in 2024 and has a current run-rate of $115 billion; subscription services such as Prime membership; advertising revenue; and fees from third-party (3P) marketplace sellers.
Still, the signs point to above-market growth for Amazon’s e-commerce business, where, on a companywide basis, 3P suppliers represented 61% of all units sold last year.
The UK is Amazon’s second-largest market outside of the US, behind Germany ($40.9 billion in 2024) and ahead of Japan ($27.4 billion).
