Tell us a secret that your work colleagues don’t know about you.
During university, I was a mixologist and ran cocktail masterclasses at weekends. A more niche secret: I’m a published poet, having won a competition at the age of eight with a poem about a cat.
What’s something new happening in your life right now?
Being a dad to my 14-month-old son. He’s recently learned to walk, which has brought with it a whole new level of entertainment – and chaos.
Who is the most famous person you’ve met?
I once met Jimmy Carr in an airport passport queue, although he wasn’t too chatty given it was a very early morning flight. James May also visited my school as part of a TV show he was making. As a Top Gear-obsessed teenager, I found it very cool.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
When people tell me my son looks like me. As a proud dad, I don’t think there’s anything better than that.
What is the stupidest thing you’ve ever done?
Without a doubt, tearing my ACL a month before my wedding. Fortunately, I didn’t find out until a couple of months later, so I somehow made it through the wedding – and honeymoon – first!
Favourite sport to play or watch?
Cricket and football are my favourites. I’ve also become a big NFL fan over the past decade and loved watching the Seattle Seahawks win the Super Bowl this year. Badminton is my weekly fixture with friends and I’m also trying to improve my golf.
Who is your hero?
My dad. He taught me the importance of hard work, always putting my best foot forward and giving everything my all.
Best concert you’ve ever been to?
The Weeknd at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam had the best venue and atmosphere – but the Red Hot Chili Peppers just edge it as my favourite.
Which phone app do you use the most?
YouTube or Spotify. I also love a podcast and always have something playing in the background while I’m doing stuff.
What outrageous luxury would you have in the office?
A massage chair. Between soreness from playing sport and sitting at a desk all day, I’d definitely get my money’s worth.
What’s the synopsis for a novel you’d write?
I’m a history nerd, so probably an alternative history novel. Maybe a dystopian version of Europe where Napoleon conquered the continent or a modern take on Greek mythology.
What would your ultimate theme party be?
Sticking with the history theme, a favourite historical figure – dead or alive – party.
If you could have the answer to one question, what would it be?
Saying next week’s lottery numbers would be a bit of a cop-out, so instead, I’d love to know exactly what impact AI is going to have on our day-to-day lives and the way we work.
If money was no object, what would you do all day?
Travel and make my own sports podcast. I’ve always loved sports radio and now podcasts. Being a natural chatterbox, I’d have fun doing it.
What’s your favourite place to visit and why?
Anywhere with my family or friends – it’s the people that make the place, not the other way round. A couple of years ago, I might have said Molineux. Sadly, it’s been pretty depressing being a Wolves fan recently.
Favourite holiday so far?
Anywhere in Italy. I love the food, climate and cities. Rome is probably my favourite. My wife and I travelled to the Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon – I’d highly recommend Positano.
What’s the most extravagant online purchase you’ve ever made?
My wife’s engagement ring – which I bought without ever seeing it in person. I had to put my full faith in her mum – fortunately, it worked out well!
