They say that the sun shines on the righteous, and The Society of Old Friends Brummie Clachan was living proof of this as around 40 Old Friends and guests basked in the Midlands sunshine beside the Birmingham Old Main Line Canal.
The buzzing canalside venue, The Distillery, was the perfect setting in which to relax and enjoy jovial company. Guests were treated to a generous, high-quality summer buffet, with drinks and conversation flowing throughout the evening. The plentiful food, attentive and friendly service and welcoming atmosphere provided an ideal backdrop for the summer Clachan.
Old friends, new faces
The Society was joined by a group of dynamic young leaders from the BOSS Federation Leaders of the Future Committee, who added a fresh dynamic to the evening and provided an opportunity for members to connect with the next generation of industry talent. Following the meal, The Society of Old Friends President Ian Buckley gave a short address, updating members on forthcoming events and the launch of the new Society app. He also extended a public vote of thanks to Marketing and Communications Officer Robert Harper for his outstanding efforts in developing the new member platform.
Buckley also recognised Committee Member Shaun Tidman for sourcing the venue at The Distillery, and thanked Committee Member Keeley Shepherd and longstanding Old Friend Anita Glithero for their diligent efforts in selling raffle tickets throughout the evening. The raffle winners were Andy Burnett, Tom Plaskitt and Annaliese Curtis.
Following the raffle, guests returned to the lively canalside garden to enjoy sundowners in great company and make the most of the glorious summer evening. The event marked a wonderful way for the Society to return to Birmingham after a seven-year hiatus.
