The Ride of Life 2024 charity cycling event proved to be an outstanding success as dedicated cyclists rode a challenging 100 km route, starting and finishing at the Bedford Rowing Club.
Organised by a team of dedicated volunteers and sponsored by various business products organisations, The Ride of Life has become an annual highlight. This year’s event, held on 17 May, saw participants from the industry coming together with a common goal: to support the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). Through their collective effort, the event raised approximately £7,500 to aid in the fight against cancer.
The ride commenced early in the morning, setting off from the picturesque Bedford Rowing Club. The scenic route took riders through the beautiful countryside, featuring a mix of rolling hills and flat terrains, making for a demanding yet rewarding experience. Along the way, riders were cheered on by local supporters and volunteers, adding to the community spirit of the event.
David Richardson and Matthew Whelan, the event coordinators, expressed their gratitude to all participants and supporters, stating: “We are thrilled with the turnout and the amount raised this year. Every cyclist who took part and everyone who supported them has contributed to an important cause. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting the innovative work being done at the ICR.”
“The success of The Ride of Life 2024 sets a positive precedent for future events, inspiring the community to continue their support for cancer research. Plans are already underway for next year’s ride, with hopes to raise even more funds and awareness for this crucial cause.”
