Evo has announced two key hires this week, one at group level and the other at the VOW Wholesale subsidiary.
Firstly, Martin Weedall has rejoined the business in the new role of Group Logistics Director. Reporting to CEO Andrew Gale, Weedall has taken on responsibility for both the Warehouses and Transport (including Truline) teams.
He previously spent more than 30 years at various iterations and subsidiaries of evo before leaving to become Operations Director at rival firm OT Group (OTG) in 2022. Following the break-up of OTG and its exit from the wholesaling channel, Weedall’s role became redundant once the closure of the distribution centre near Manchester had been finalised.
Gale told W360 the appointment should be viewed as a strengthening of the senior management team.
“Cost to serve is a key area of focus in FY25 and I look forward to working with Martin to deliver meaningful change,” he said.
Gale added: “We’ve simplified following the integration of the Complete network, and we now need to optimise the overall service model.”
Meanwhile, another senior hire at EVO is that of Keir Hayter as Channel Director at VOW Wholesale. She has joined the business from healthcare supplier TSL where she was most recently Head of Multichannel Sales.
Commenting on social media, Gale said Hayter would be “a key addition”, also noting: “I met Keir earlier this year, in her previous role, and she didn’t hold back in telling me what we needed to do! So, when this opportunity came up, we knew who we wanted and are excited to have Keir on the team.
